About this journal
Built around careful observation.
Runiu Systems is an independent engineering notebook focused on edge networking, operational clarity, and the unglamorous systems that make distributed services dependable.
The notes here favour repeatable measurements over broad claims. Topics include route behaviour, TLS operations, node health, and practical ways to reduce uncertainty during infrastructure changes.
The site is deliberately lightweight: static pages, local assets, no tracking scripts, and no account system. It is maintained from Osaka and updated when a measurement produces a useful result.
Measure first
Make the smallest observation that can disprove the current assumption.
Prefer clarity
Systems should explain their state without requiring an expert to be present.
Keep it simple
Fewer moving parts leave more attention for the failures that matter.
